Construction & Property jobs
A degree in Business Studies, Economics, Maths or Finance (or the equivalent experience) and the energy business background it will take to get settled into the role quickly. An expert knowledge of renewable legislations and policies, environmental, wholesale and retail energy markets – with specialist knowledge in renewable legislation across Europe to provide guidance on compliance, consultations responses and support new product offerings. Significant financial skills, a sharp commercial awareness and a highly developed risk awareness backed up by an advanced level of numeracy and analytical thinking – you’re someone who can quickly get to grips with the details, analyse commercial data and recommend trading and risk mitigation strategies. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills – you’ll be as effective at building a rapport with your small team as you are presenting at senior levels and building relationships with external stakeholders. An innovative, strategic approach – we’re looking for someone who is resilient when it comes to change and who can implement enhanced processes, interfaces and system enhancements to support the growth of the portfolio management function. Proficiency in Excel and BusinessObjects reporting tools – you’ll be adept at building financial models
Right now, we’re looking for a Contract Operations Manager to join E.ON Climate & Renewables (EC&R). This is the business area responsible for our industrial-scale renewable energy activities, including wind farms.
It will be down to you to take responsibility for a number of long-term contracts with independent generators, looking after everything from operations and forecasting through to relationship management and value delivery for each project. Put simply, you’ll provide an end-to-end contract management service. The way we sell power from our portfolio requires a number of month-end processes – we’ll be relying on you to calculate our income and EBIT using relevant models as well as providing analytics, portfolio position information and KPI contract designs. You’ll also assess any legal implications. On a day-to-day level, you can expect to manage and optimise external contracts to create value and mitigate risk, to liaise with finance on income forecasts and performance reporting, and to ensure regulatory compliance in relation to our renewable energy subsidies.
It’s all about delivering on our income targets, managing internal stakeholders, and ensuring that the wider business is kept informed of our current portfolio position. There will be a number of power and renewable energy certificates for you to manage from a transfer price perspective and your role will also involve working as part of a small team of five to keep things running efficiently. You’ll need to share your knowledge with them so directly relevant experience would be a massive plus (although training can be provided if you have all the other qualities we’re looking for). Because the broader team is based in Germany, we’ll need to see that you’re flexible about travel; a broad energy background is also a must.
This is an opportunity to join a small, professional team in a fun, relaxed environment. You can look forward to great opportunities to progress both within this team and other parts of the business – not least because you’ll be developing all sorts of transferable skills.
